Portland ROCKS

Had our Handmade Puppet Dreams screening today at Clinton Street Theater and what a great audience Portland was! Attendance was impressive!! Our Q&A went well, where I was joined by Jesse Gregg and Ashley Burke, fellow collaborators on the short film "Yamasong". Portland was an amazing experience. Thank you Katie McClenahan of Beady Little Eyes and Tears of Joy for a great event!!

Don't forget, "Handmade Puppet Dreams" Volume 1 screens at Clinton Street Theater in Portland tomorrow (2/20) at 2 pm! Includes a special screening of "Yamasong" and a Q&A panel of the film's artists as well!

Michael Curry Studio HOW AMAZING! Giant parade puppets, creatures, dinosaurs, and one of the most organized and well-thought out studios I've ever been in. They embody one of my important puppet building concepts - BUILD LIGHT! They love composite materials, especially carbon-fiber, tubing, etc., lots of hoop structure, inflatables.... Brilliant stuff. The place where art and design dance together. All of this in the middle of dairy farms! If you're ever in Portland and can visit, DO IT!

Cold and rainy in Portland, but warm and dry humor at the Hilt, a local bar in the Alberta arts district with local puppeteers and artists! Tomorrow, Michael Curry Design, Guildworks and Castiron Carousel - much art and puppet communiteering ahead!

Heading to Portland

First stop Tears of Joy Theater - I've been a big admirer of their work. I mean, they tell stories from world cultures with tabletop puppets. Two of my favorite things in one puppet company. Really looking forward to it!
